How do the location and characteristics of gated communities reveal and reinforce patterns concerning the urban morphology of Porto Alegre?
Methodology: Georeferencing and categorization of the municipality’s gated communities. Development of typology and analysis of spatial distribution.
Results: A clear morphological segregation was identified: small-scale horizontal condominiums (townhouses/single-family homes) predominate in the South Zone, while luxury vertical towers (high-rise apartments) are concentrated in the Center-East Zone.
Data Sources: Google Earth, IBGE, Open Buildings, OpenStreetMap.
